Enjoy lunch at the hotel and then drive to the former home of author Karen von Blixen ("Out of Africa"). After time to wander through the house and stroll the beautiful grounds, continue on to the Giraffe Center for a fun visit with the Rothschild giraffes.

Leave Nairobi early this morning, heading north to Naro Moru where you stop for lunch. Cross the equator and continue into Shaba National Reserve, game viewing enroute.
The Lodge is situated in the Shaba National Reserve. This Reserve is part of a conglomeration of reserves in the Eastern Province, descending from Mt. Kenya, at the entrance to the vast scrub desert that reaches beyond L.Turkana, are situated Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the third contiguous National Reserve, Shaba. The Ewaso Nyiro River whose origin is the northern slope of Mt. Kenya around the Nanyuki Township borders all the reserves. The river's name is a derived from the local community's language. It means the river of brown or muddy water.
Shaba is the only lodge in the 239 sq. km Shaba National Reserve. The reserve was gazetted as a conservation area in 1976. Thirteen (13) years later, the lodge became officially operational. This is an 85-room, three-star lodge whose dΘcor perfectly blends with the adjoining environment. The lodge is set on a natural oasis and the water is channeled into cascades and fishponds on the entire premises.
Located in the Semi-desert Shaba Game Reserve in the Central Kenya the Sarova Shaba Lodge offers the guests a chance to see the bounty of unique wildlife made famous by the film “Born Free”. In March 1998, the Lodge played host to the cast and crew of the “ Born Free”, true-life story of George and Joy Adamson and starred both Kenyan actors and International film stars. The majority of the filming took place in the Game Reserve but some of the scenes were actually shot in the lodge.

In the late 1970?s, Joy Adamson ("Born Free") experimented with rehabilitating leopards to the wild here in Shaba. More than 280 species of birds have been recorded in Shaba and game viewing may reveal large herds of elephant, as well as gerenuk, waterbuck and oryx.

Early this morning head to the Rift Valley. Stop first at picturesque Nyahururu Falls before arriving in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. As you drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, watch the tree tops for the playful colubus monkey.
Built in a natural dais, overlooking one of the world's ornithological spectacles, the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge impresses every guest with its panoramic view of the pink shoreline created by millions of flamingos on Lake Nakuru.

After a leisurely morning, visit the Egyptian Museum, containing perhaps the most comprehensive collection of antiquities in the world. Among the over 120,000 objects on display are some of the priceless treasures from the tomb of King Tutankhamen.

Begin the day with a visit to Cheop's Pyramid, one of the seven wonders of the world. Then continue to Memphis, first capital of ancient Egypt. Your last stop today is at Sakkara to visit the Pyramid of Unas - the only one with inscribed texts - and the Step Pyramid of King Djoser.
Day 12 Cairo-Abu Simbel-Aswan-Embark | Meals: BLD
An early morning flight takes you to the magnificent rock-cut temples of Ramses II and his queen Nefertari in Abu Simbel. Fly to Aswan where you embark on your cruise vessel.
Day 13 Aswan-Kom Ombo-Edfu | Meals: BLD
Before sailing, visit Aswan?s Old and High Dams, the temple of Philae, the unfinished Obelisk and the Granite quarries. Sail to Kom Ombo where you stop to visit the Temple with its beautiful murals before continuing to Edfu for the night.
Day 14 Edfu-Luxor | Meals: BLD
Visit the Temple of Horus (237 B.C.) before sailing on to Luxor for the night.
Day 15 Luxor-Disembark-Cairo | Meals: BLD
After breakfast, disembark and cross the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings and King Tut's tomb, the Valley of Queens and the Colossi of Memnon. You?ll stop at the fascinating Temples of Luxor and Karnak before joining the flight back to Cairo.

A morning tour shows you the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque before stopping at the bustling Khan El Khalili Bazaar for a bit of bargaining! Visit some of the oldest churches in Christianity in Coptic Cairo before returning to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure.
