Day 2  Nairobi-Aberdares | Meals: BLD
Your drive takes you north this morning, past Nyeri to the Outspan, where you stop for lunch. Later this afternoon, a lodge vehicle will transfer you to Treetops for the night. Watch for game as they come to the lodge's waterhole to drink water and scratch for salt.

Treetops

Treetops is the original tree lodge, and is world famous for its location facing a water hole and a salt lick in the Aberdares National Park as well as its historical royal connection. The lodge lies at 6,450 feet above sea level.

In 1932, its first visitors gingerly climbed the wild fig tree supporting the two-room tree house. In February of 1952, a young English girl climbed the tree as a Princess one afternoon, to descend the following morning as Queen Elizabeth II --her father, King George VI had died during the night.

The lodge rises straight out of the ground on stilts.
  • It has 4 decks and a rooftop-viewing platform.
  • There are 50 twin bed rooms, which are neat and cozy and are designed like cabins on board a ship.
  • Dinner is imaginatively served at tables with bench seating.
  • Coffee and liqueurs are served in the comfortable lounge, which features picture windows and trees growing through the building.
  • The bar is open every night till midnight.
  • Mount Kenya's breath taking view is visible on clear mornings.
  • Treetops have open balconies for viewing and photography; two photographic hides at ground level at either end of the lodge allow really close shots of unsuspecting animals.
  • There is an optional buzzer in every room that alerts the guests if something special were to show up at night.

Day 3  Aberdares-Lake Nakuru | Meals: BLD
Drive around the northern part of the Aberdares Range to descend into the Great Rift Valley, arriving in time for lunch. The lake is famous for its million plus flamingos which migrate along the Rift Valley Lakes. Enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Lake Nakuru Lodge

Situated in the south east ecological niche of the Lake Nakuru National Park is the Lake Nakuru Lodge, an oasis of comfort and excellent service, with commanding views of the Lesser Flamingo dotted with the Greater Flamingo, for which Lake Nakuru is justly famous. It is another world for the visitor, one where a person easily forgets the hustle and bustle of the city. The lodge blends well with it's surroundings and the animals often browse peacefully close to the lodge and environs, much to the fascination of the visitors.

The Lake Nakuru Lodge is situated in a wonderland which lies in the heart of one of Kenya's most densely animal populated wetland National Parks (Ramsar Site), only two hours leisurely drive - on first class roads - from Nairobi, through some of the most exciting scenery to be seen anywhere in Africa. The 156 Km Nairobi-Nakuru road gives the visitor an unrivalled view of the majestic Great Rift Valley, winding through a series of Lakes and forested uplands all the way to the bustling market town of Nakuru. The views are equally impressive for the visitor who uses a charter aircraft for the 25 minute flight to the Lake Nakuru National Park airstrip situated at the Southern side of the park at the Rhino Sanctuary Headquarters - Naishi.

Day 4  Lake Nakuru-Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
Leave early today, climbing out of the Rift Valley, to enter the Masai Mara Reserve, part of the Serengeti ecosystem. After lunch, be ready to experience some of the best game viewing in Kenya's most exciting game reserve.

Mara Simba Lodge

Comfortable rooms are clustered in Bandas consisting of 6 rooms, with 4 rooms on the ground floor and 2 inter-leading on the first floor.
