A light aircraft flight takes you to Kenya's most famous reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Birdwatchers will delight in the Masai Mara, as more than 500 species of birds have been recorded. There are over 16 species of eagles and 9 species of sunbird.

We cross the border from Kenya into Tanzania at Isebania and continue by road to the Serengeti. The short grass plains of the Serengeti are ideal for a cheetah on the hunt - and the plentiful Thomson's and Grant's gazelle provide good targets. Unlike some of the other cats, cheetah will hunt in daylight, so with luck, you might see one on the prowl.

The Crater's variety of eco-systems provides abundant food and water for its residents and it is estimated that 25,000 animals live in the crater. There are several animals noted for their absence - one of them is the giraffe, because there is insufficient food supply to sustain them.

The acacia woods provide a great playground for the banded mongoose, who can often be found following paths through the forests in search of insects.
