Day 2 Arusha-Tarangire | Meals: BD
Following breakfast and your safari briefing, you depart by private 4x4 safari vehicle to Tarangire
National Park. Once you pass the park gate, you game view en route to the lodge arriving for lunch. Following lunch and a chance to enjoy the lodge's facilities, you have an afternoon game drive.
Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge is located in the heart of Tarangire, Tanzania's wild land and landscapes. Tarangire is famed for its massive elephant herds, true sense of wilderness and a gentle backdrop of baobabs. It is the lesser visited but more intriguing park on the northern circuit. At Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge, we have 12 permanent tents made up of ten standard suites, and 2 x two bed room inter-connected family suites.
The camp is open all year around and especially during the dry months, the massive elephant herds travel through the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire and spend their time in and around the park. This is because of their ability to uncover permanent sources of fresh water. We endeavour to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, while being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism.
Each tent is 20m long by 8m wide and framed with wooden logs, metal piping and then wrapped in heavy duty safari rip-stop canvas made locally at Morogoro, southern Tanzania, plus the additional cooling feature of shade-clothing over the entire tent. You are met at the entrance by climbing specially crafted stairs and onto a balcony with love seat and side table for relaxing when you have a moment. The front of the tents has double sliding doors, including a layer of mosquito netting for your comfort. Once you step into the tent into the bedroom area, you will see an arrangement of unique furniture like a desk and chair, bench seat, side tables, matting and incredible local imagery. Once you walk through the bedroom and into the ensuite, the polished concrete floors with wardrobe, robes, separate shower and toilet cubicles and handcrafted wash stand with carefully created terracotta basins. All the fittings depict colours in natural tones to adhere to the intrinsic area we are located. We offer double, twin, single, triple and family tents. The beds are fitted with imported cotton sheets, double pillows, duvets and bed runners for your comfort.
The tents have netted windows down each side of the tent, roll up the canvas and let the breeze flow through while still creating a romantic private feel with light weight curtains to dance on the draft. From the entrance of the bedroom and onto the bathroom, each tent is fitted with an extensive solar lighting system for your convenience. Please consider careful and responsible use of water and lighting when at the camp, to extend accessibility for all.
There is a magical path of lanterns between the tents and also to our main common area but please DO NOT walk alone, use your radio call to request an escort at all times of the day. While we use these kerosene lanterns, you will also observe a mix of solar guide lights and scented beeswax candles to create an enchanting setting to unwind after the day's adventures. Enjoy your meals in the thatched main area, on the porches or beside the swimming pool. Why not enjoy a sundowner while sitting around the camp fire until infinite African skies. For charging electrical equipment, we run solar power 24hrs a day, charge in your room or in the main area.
