Day 1  Arrive Cape Town
Welcome to South Africa. After you touch down and clear customs formalities your local host will meet and transfer you to your hotel with breathtaking vistas of the majestic Twelve Apostles mountains. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy your stunning surroundings.

Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa stands at the edge of the world. On one side, a line of majestic mountains - The Twelve Apostles - reaches towards the heavens; on the other, the sun sets on breeching whales, playful dolphins, and crashing Atlantic rollers. And all around, you can walk the wilderness trails of the Table Mountain National Park. We'll even pack you a picnic.

And yet this luxury 5-star boutique hotel is just a few minutes from worldly, cosmopolitan Cape Town. City-centre theatres and art galleries, plus the shops and restaurants of the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront are only 15 minutes away via our complimentary car transfer service - quicker still if you use our helipad.

When choosing one of our 55 deluxe guest rooms and 15 luxurious suites, the hardest part is deciding whether to overlook the mountains or the sea. Whichever direction you face, the views are stunning.

Interior decor is just as appealing. Our light, airy, and peaceful rooms are an eclectic mix of contemporary African style, classic European comfort and effortless, up-to-the-minute technology. Cool colours and rich fabrics bring elegance and wilderness serenity. At The Twelve Apostles, you want for nothing: every room includes 24-hour room service, individual air conditioning, entertainment centres with DVD, and plush bathrobes and slippers.

AWARD WINNING-CAPE FUSION CUISINE AND ATLANTIC VIEWS

If ever a location and its 5-star cuisine were in harmony, it's here at The Twelve Apostles. With stunning national park scenery and inventive Cape fusion cuisine, The Twelve Apostles Hotels invites diners to immerse themselves in the Cape experience.

You can choose to dine in the Azure restaurant with its magnificent sea views of the Atlantic Ocean, which has just received the prestigious Chane des Rtisseurs Blazon award, given to professional members such as an owner, manager or executive chef of a dining or hotel establishment maintaining a superb level of cuisine, service and hospitality, as required by the exacting standards of the Chane internationally.

Our Head Chef, Roberto de Carvalho and his team, famous for their fynbos menu, will infuse your taste buds with organic ingredients chosen daily from our own herb garden and the local markets, depending on the season.

For lighter fare try the Caf which is open 24 hours a day, and has a choice of delicious fresh salads, light snacks, grilled meat and fish. If you have your own personal favourite dish, all you have to do is ask!

For breathtaking sundowners head to the Leopard Room bar. Our head barman keeps 72 types of vodka and 46 ports and will create cocktails using your own favourite ingredients, or you can have Tea by the Sea with all the trimmings, an event of such magnificence that it's become a local tradition.

For a really unique experience, join us for a Dinner and Movie evening. Dine in our stunning Azure Restaurant followed by an intimate viewing of a classic film at our private cinema.

When asked for their memories of The Twelve Apostles, guests are hard-pressed to choose between the magic of the glorious Atlantic sunsets or the kindness of our staff. Luckily, the two go hand-in-hand. While you watch the sunset from a striped terrace lounger, we'll be at your side with cocktails, cool drinks, or tasty snacks. Whatever you want, we'll arrange it for you. That's how life is at the Twelve Apostles.

From the complimentary drink that awaits your arrival to the free transfers to Camps Bay and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, from 08h00 to 20h00 you always feel at home. Your stay includes a full South African breakfast and use of the Sanctuary Spa, (voted best spa resort in Africa) which boasts of hydrotherapy pools, a sauna and flotation tank.

And when the day's over, you retire to a room or suite of elegant luxury. Each one is unique; each is decorated in relaxed, soothing colours for airy, daytime coolness and cosy, night-time intimacy.

Children love the 12A too. As do our guests' pets. Young or old, two-legged or four-legged, we make a fuss of everyone. Nothing is too much trouble - we'll even rustle up a bowl of popcorn or other treats for you to enjoy in our private 16-seater cinema.

Day 8  Johannesburg-Sabi Sabi Game Reserve | Meals: BLD
During the 1870's, gold was discovered in the Drakensberg escarpment, which rises just west of Sabi Sabi. To transport the gold, the Old Transvaal Republic commissioned a railway line. A brand of this railway was known as the Selati Line, crossing the Sabi Sand Reserve. Your intimate all-suite camp is close to this old rail line and you'll feel the railway theme throughout the camp. A light aircraft flight brings you to Sabi Sand from Johannesburg today. Settle into your "Out of Africa" style camp and prepare yourself for some of the most amazing game-viewing in southern Africa.

Sabi Sabi Selati Camp

Imagine the Africa of the great safari era, when blazing sunsets melted into lantern lit romance and service was an effortless whisper. This is the Africa you will experience at Sabi Sabi's Selati Camp, an award winning luxury game lodge in South Africa.

During the 1870's, high in the crevices of the Drakensberg escarpment which rises to the west of Sabi Sabi, gold was discovered. To transport the gold, the parliament of the Old Transvaal Republic commissioned a railway line from the interior to Delagoa Bay in Mozambique. A branch railway known as the Selati Line crossed the Sabi Sand Reserve.

Today the line is disused but the old railbed can still be seen in the north-eastern section of Sabi Sabi, close to Selati Camp. Sabi Sabi's intimate all-suite Selati Camp is the most unforgettable of all African experiences. It offers the perfect accommodation for travellers looking for a romantic luxury safari lodge in South Africa. Selati is furnished with a historic railway theme and colonial charm and is meticulously created as an authentic home in the bush. The railway theme extends from the original steam engine name plates, signals and shunter's lamps lighting the way to your suite, to interesting memorabilia and other collector's pieces in each room.

Originally created without electricity to preserve the ambience, Selati Camp has now installed overhead fans, air-conditioning and all the trimmings expected from a luxury safari lodge. Nights at Selati are quiet, intimate and possessed of a rare magic. Under the spectacular canopy of the Southern night sky the camp is still romantically lit by the gentle flicker of oil lamps and lanterns, and the warm glow of fires.

Fashioned in a colonial "Out of Africa" style, this exclusive lodge comprises eight opulent thatched suites, each with full bathroom en-suite and private alfresco shower nestled under majestic indigenous trees. World-class cuisine is served on wooden thatched decks built alongside the Msuthlu riverbed, in the open air "boma" or in the "farmhouse kitchen".

The premier accommodation at Selati Camp is the sumptuous and spacious Ivory Presidential Suite, which is a favourite amongst Kings, Queens, and those just looking for exceptional accommodation. It offers colonial grandeur in the form of original antiques, a draped four-poster bed, private terrace, and fireplace. The magnificent en-suite bathroom, complete with Persian carpet and antique chaise-lounge, also features a very private plunge pool. The separate dressing room features an antique wardrobe and matching dressing table.

The Lourenco Marques Suite is a must for honeymooners or the romantic at heart. Whether it is the fragrant flower petals strewn on the exquisite bedlinen, or the candles illuminating the bathroom on return from the evening safari, a stay in this romantic suite will always be remembered.

Sabi Sabi's Selati Camp combines turn of the century elegance with personalised safari luxury - a rare experience.

Day 9 & 10  Sabi Sabi Selati Camp | Meals: BLD
The days are leisurely at Selati. Rise early and have a quick cup of tea or coffee before heading out on your first game drive of the day. The animals are active in the morning and you might encounter great herds of buffalo or elephant, enjoying breakfast. You might like to take a walking safari, easily arranged by your Ranger. There are no fences between Sabi Sabi and Kruger National Park, allowing the game to move freely between the two, enhancing your game viewing opportunities. You have excellent chances of seeing the Big Five, along with wild dog and cheetah.
