Land in London this morning where the day is at leisure until departure this evening on the overnight flight to South Africa.
Day 3 Sat Arrive Mpumalanga
Welcome to South Africa! Arrive in Johannesburg early this morning, where you clear immigration formalities before connecting to the domestic flight to Mpumalanga, the gateway to South Africa's famous Kruger National Park and beyond. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, where the evening is at leisure.
Hippo Hollow Country Estate is situated outside Hazyview on the Sabi River between the Drakensberg mountains to the west and the low-lying bushveld to the east. It is the ideal destination from which to access the reserves of the Lowveld and the sights of Mpumalanga.
The Lodge has an "Out of Africa " feel about it, and leaves you feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. There are 63 units in total. 18 Family chalets on the river and 19 twin bedded chalets situated in a sub tropical garden. Hippo Hollow's chalets are semi-self catering, equipped to cater for a braai. Hippo Hollow also has 26 en-suite hotel rooms.
There is a full service restaurant and bar in a spectacular setting overlooking the Sabi River, offering country cuisine and a fine wine selection. The sight of Kingfishers and other beautiful water birds as well as hippos grazing on the lawns often enhance dinners.
We offer 2 large central swimming pools - a welcome respite on those hot Lowveld days! For arts & crafts lovers, we have a well-stocked curio shop on the premises including a selection of local art.

Day 4 Sun Malalane | Meals: B
Our first stop this morning takes us to the Jane Goodall Institute - Chimpanzee Eden - for a unique opportunity to see chimpanzees in semi-wild surroundings. Later, continue to your hotel on the banks of the Crocodile River, a natural boundary of the Kruger National Park.
Day 5 Mon Kruger National Pard | Meals: B
Early this morning we head into the Kruger National Park for a full day of game viewing in closed vehicles. You'll search for the Big Five plus much more before returning to the hotel in time to watch a magnificent African sunset.
Day 6 Tue Mozambique | Meals: BD
Travel into Mozambique today, where you will have an interesting orientation tour around the cultural and historical city of Maputo - the capital of Mozambique. This afternoon, a ferry ride across the harbor is the beginning of a 4x4 ride that takes you to your lodge located along a beautiful and remote area about 110 kilometers south of Maputo.
Day 7 Wed Mozambique | Meals: BD
Enjoy a full day at leisure at this beachfront resort. You might want to take some optional extra water activities like scubadiving, deep-sea fishing or rock surf fishing. Or, spend the day simply relaxing in the sun on the beautiful beach.
Day 8 Thu Hluhluwe/Umfolozi | Meals: B
A morning visit to a local orphanage gives a glimpse of the good work being done to help the local residents improve their lives. Then, our drive takes us into Zululand for a stop in Hluhluwe for lunch on your own. Later, game viewing in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park awaits. This is the oldest reserve in Africa and is well known for its white rhino conservation. With luck, you will also add the Big Five to your wildlife checklist today.
Day 9 Fri St. Lucia
We begin the morning with a visit to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa's first World Heritage site. Take a 2-hour boat ride on the estuary, taking in the fabulous birdlife -- and the hundreds of hippo and crocodiles as well! The afternoon is at leisure -- you might like to add an optional game drive through Eastern Shores Game Reserve or an extra open-vehilce game drive into Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park.
Day 10 Sat Swaziland | Meals: BD
Today we enter the smallest country in Africa, Swaziland. You'll pass through scenic mountains countryside before stopping at the Ngwenya Mine, believed to be the oldest mine in the world.
Day 11 Sun Swaziland Depart | Meals: B
A morning visit to the Nsangwini Rock Art reveals amazing drawings depicting the daily lives of the Khoisan people painted on some of the world's oldest rock creations. Your drive takes you across the Jeppes Reef Border back into South Africa and Mpumalanga Airport, where you join your flight to Johannesburg. This evening, depart Johannesburg on the overnight flight to London. If you have more time, why not add an extension to Cape Town?
